Easter Monday for us was filled with good music, on 17th of April, we attended a concert in the Cultural Center in Orpheum, Graz. Australian giants Parkway Drive were playing, along with Stick To Your Guns and Darkest Hour. From March 29th to April 30th, they are on the Unbreakable tour across Europe. One of the supporting bands is also Asking Alexandria, but they only toured with them till the 13th of April, so we didn't get the chance to see them, but never the less we saw 3 of the truly great bands on the scene.
The show started at 8.pm and Darkest Hour from Washington D.C. was the first to hit the stage. Just recently, on 10th of March, they released a new album. Godless Prophets & the Migrant Flora is already their ninth studio album. They opened the show with one of the songs from the newest album, Knife in the Safe Room. When they started to play the place was already nicely packed so they had a good audience. With each song, they lifted up the crowd even more. So by the end of the show, they even started the first circle pit. They finished with the older song The Sadist Nation from the album Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation.
After Darkest Hour, Stick To Your Guns from California took the stage over. With the fast hardcore riffs, strong vocals and powerful speeches in between the songs they made a truly memorable performance. During the show vocalist, Jesse Barnet pointed out how he despises his own nation. That he is an American, but is not proud of it and that he is ashamed of the things America and its leadership does around the world. He also sad that every homophobic, sexist and racist motherfucker has no place below this stage and that they are in the wrong place. His words were well accepted by the crowd. They lifted the atmosphere to the next level.
By the time Parkway Drive came to stage the crowd was warmed up, the atmosphere was as it is supposed to be on every core show. They opened the show with the song Wild Eyes, from their fourth studio album Atlas. In their recent album Ire, more modern metal influences can be heard and the album has become a great success. Their latest albums have reached the top 10 Australian ARIA Charts but they are on the top all around the world. The band also played a cover of Rage Against The Machine's hit "Bulls On Parade" which they don't play very often.
Again they put on an overall incredible show and have proved once more that they are the kings of metalcore. They have shown us that they are one of the best if not the best metal core bend of all times. They closed the show with Bottom Feeder, from the Ire album.
